it was a drone iran downed in 2011. cnn cannot independently verify the authenticity of this video. we reached out to the pentagon for comment but have not heard back yet. nick robertson is following developments in london. is this the same drone that the united states said was returned to the united states? >> it looks like the same one. the iranians say it was flying 140 miles into their airspace off their northeastern corner, close to the border with afghanistan. the iranians are saying this aircraft was flying from the kandahar airfield base inside afghanistan, and some of the footage, and i looked at it, some of it could be kandahar air base but there's no guarantee this video came from the aircraft in question here. did they get this video from somewhere els? it's not clear. there's no way to verify at the moment what the iranians are saying. the spokesman that the iranians are putting forward says that the aircraft was sent to california several times in 2010 for repair and used for operations inside pakistan. >> translator: this aircraft has had many flights in countries around iran, o

today at cnn, a secret american drone base somewhere in saudi arabia, now this is according, these are reports from two major newspapers today, saying that this u.s. launches these drone attacks against al qaeda targets from that particular base. i want to bring in two folks here at the pentagon chris lawrence also michael holmes from cnn international. chris, it's not a total surprise that this was there in saudi arabia, but certainly it was not something that they officially wanted to reveal. why are they doing it now? >> that's the big question, suzanne, why did this come out? we reported two years ago from our sources u.s. officials were telling us the cia was building an airstrip in the a arabian peninsula. it was hinted it would possibly be in saudi arabia. but we never had any sort of agreement to withhold that. we simply reported it was being built in the arabian peninsula. others entered an agreement with the white house to hold back the exact location. why that is coming out now? that's what we are trying to figure out. it's certainly extremely provocative. you cou

of that this afternoon. in a statement to cnn, the nfl said quote, there were some fluctuations in the frequency of the power supply but not in the amount of the power supplied to the building. this again referring to the period of the rehearsals that beyonce was having in the week leading up to the super bowl. the league said there were no mass power outages during the rehearsals. they also said it was because of those power issues during the rehearsal that they decided to have beyonce's team use a completely different power supply from the superdome's grid for the actual halftime show itself. now, we also caught up with doug thornton of the smg group, group that manages the superdome. here's what he had to say about beyonce's rehearsals. >> yes, we had a couple fuses blown, there were a couple circuits that were overloaded, but it had nothing to do with this power outage. it's totally unrelated. >> reporter: thornton says that that sometimes happens when you've got outside show producers coming in who are not familiar with the circuitry of the building. we contacted beyonce's representatives.

now "cnn newsroom." a highly decorated navy s.e.a.l., considered one of the military's best snipers. chris kyle was shot and killed along with a friend at a gun range near ft. worth, texas. susan candiotti is joining us live from new york. how exactly the shooting unfold. >> what a tragedy. the sheriff tells me chris kyle and chad were at a shooting. they all apparently knew each other. kyle is well known for helps vets transition into civilian life, some of them suffering from posttraumatic stress. they appear to be alone at the range yesterday afternoon when this happened and the sheriff says they don't yet know what was behind the shooting, what prompted it they rorved, listen to this, 25 to 30 weapons, including handguns and longons and ak 47s. they're still trying to sort out which one was the murder weapon. now, after the shooting police say the suspect took off in former s.e.a.l. chris kyle's pickup truck. the bodies were not discovered for almost a couple of hours, 911 was called and investigators eventually found the suspect at his home about 75 miles away. he allegedly too
